Japan Rail Pass Terms and Conditions

Japan Rail Pass

Product Information:

– Travel must be consecutive days

– Train reservations cannot be made from Australia

– Passengers may use services on most JR local, rapid, limited express and Shinkansen with the exception of the “NOZOMI” Shinkansen services (Note: other high speed trains run as alternatives to this train)

– Valid for certain buses and ferries (see Japan Rail Pass brochure for details)

Inclusions:

Green Pass = First Class

Ordinary Pass = Economy Class

Children:

One child under 6 years of age can accompany one full paying adult free of charge, however will not have a seat on the train

Validation of Pass:

– Customers will receive a JR Exchange Order prior to departure from Australia which must be validated at an applicable Japan Rail Pass exchange office in Japan. They will need to fill in a form and show their passport to receive their actual pass. Customers cannot travel on an exchange order. Your Australian passport must be stamped by immigration on arrival as a tourist or temporary visitor.

Eligibility:

JR Passes are only available to foreign tourists entering Japan for sightseeing purposes on a “Temporary Visitor” visa, as stamped in their passport (Passports are checked by JR upon client exchanging their vouchers)

Cancellations:

– Unused Exchange Orders are refundable within 6 months of issue but are subject to a 25% cancellation fee per pass

– No refund or re-issue for lost or stolen passes

– No refund applies for passes that have been validated in Japan
