Further to the announcement made by Qantas about the resumption of international travel, the Fiji Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has confirmed on Radio Fiji One’s “Nai Lalakai” program that Fiji will open it’s borders to international tourists on 1 November 2021.
This announcement was also confirmed by the Fiji Minister for Tourism as a result of Fiji’s successful vaccination program which aims for 100% of tourism staff and personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Whilst there is still yet to be an announcement by the Australian government on when it’s borders would open, having neighbouring countries, fully vaccinated (especially island nations which can easily control their borders) opens up the possibility of a successful travel bubble between Australia and Fiji, alongside Singapore, Hong Kong, UK, and New Zealand (eventually).
This news means you could be jetting off to Fiji for the summer school holidays!
